10.01.09 Mt. 11:1; Lk. 9:6; Mk. 6:12-13

Mt. 1 When Jesus had finished giving orders to His 12 disciples, He moved on from there to teach and preach in their towns.

Lk. 6 So they went out and traveled from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.

Mk. 12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they were driving out many demons, anointing many sick people with olive oil, and healing them.

“Anointing many sick people with olive oil, and healing them.”  Olive oil was used widely for medicinal purposes.  It is interesting that Jesus chose natural healing oil for miraculous divine healing.[1] Only later did olive oil become symbolic of the Holy Spirit.

[1]. Isa. 1:6; Lk. 10:34; Jas. 5:14.
